I need help

I need a new bathing suit.
Or a couple really.
Every time I go through my swimsuit drawer I just pull out ones from high school or freshman year spring break.
Yea that isn't going to cut it anymore.

I hate swim wear.
Last Saturday I went to the pool following a morning workout.
And after an afternoon in a two piece, well, I went for an afternoon run.
Why is that one of my most favorite activities, swimming, involves an underwear/spandex/hugs-me-in-all-the-wrong-places uniform?

I loathe it.

So I need help.
what is your swimsuit shopping advice, if any?
Where have you had success finding good quality, flattering (if they are ever flattering) swim wear?

Peace,

  1. Caroline,
Swimwear can be such a daunting thing to shop for. In my opinion the only thing I loathe more is shopping for pants. I've found luck though with VS swim suits. They're always very cute and unique. They also provide a wide range of coverage, which makes this girl really happy. Let us know where you find luck!

  2. I hear you!

I have never actually enjoyed a swimsuit shopping experience, but here is my advice on how to find one that works:

    1) go up a size. this hurts to do but if it really bothers you - tear out the tags once its yours.

    2) buy swimsuits made for your bra size if you need it. victorias secret sells suits like this

    3) higher cut on the bottom makes legs look longer

    4) tankinis are not flattering on anyone - they make you look blah and don't do much to hide anything

    5) coral, yellow, teal, black - and any other bright summery color will help make you look tan

    good luck shopping!

  3. I'm a big fan of Victoria's Secret for bathing suits. I've always had good luck with them.

  4. I always have good luck at J.Crew (even though I'm a little disappointed with them at the moment!). Their "bottoms" are normal sized...not teensy. Also, they run pretty true to size. Mostly S,M,L and they are separates so you can switch it up.

I've also heart that this year Target has a great selection, although I've not been there to confirm.

    Good luck!

  6. Girl, I WISH I had advice. I am the SAME way. I actually don't even like swimming- and haven't bought a new swimsuit in 3 years...but the kids I'm babysitting belong to a country club- hence why I'm sitting in a suit as I type this. Good luck and let me know what you decide on! xo
