I promise this wont become a trend...

Do any of you all watch Kendra?
I never really had before.
I caught her show every once in awhile during the first season
and I love her famous laugh
but I had never watched a full episode.
But I caught it last night and I loved it!

I know I have been harping on my body and my struggle to lose weight and be content for a couple of posts now.
And I promise this blog won't become a self loathing weight loss diary.
But it is something I am really struggling with right now.
I have never felt this way about myself.
I always had great self esteem growing up.
And I always found something to love about myself.
So this new battle with constant insecurity is really throwing me for a loop.

And It ties into Kendra because the episode last night was about her feeling insecure and struggling with her beauty after having a baby.
I loved how she just let it all out there.
She was honest about how hard it is to feel confident all the time.
She was honest about how she was afraid her husband would one day not want her because of her outward appearance.
She was just so, refreshingly, normal!

I didn't love it because of the way she is struggling.
I loved it because she was so real.
And I appreciate that honesty in a celebrity.
When we mostly get 'Oh I don't really work out'.
Or 'I just eat what I want, I don't really think about it'.
From the stick thin, perfectly put together celebrities,
it is refreshing to see someone who is just honest.
I hate her struggle for her.
But I think she is so brave to be so honest.

I hope I am not boring you all with these 'struggle' posts!

Peace,

  1. I'm a lurker who has been reading your blog for a while now but after reading this post I knew that I must comment. I agree with this post whole-heartedly. The rail-thin celebrities who eat whatever and don't go to they gym make me sick. I have always loved Kendra because she says exactly what comes to mind and last night I was also touched by her honesty. Keep your head up... we all struggle with insecurities, it is great that the blogging world has opened up so many doors for support!

    p.s.
My name is also Caroline! :)

  3. I love the Kendra show too, but haven't caught but 5 or 6 episodes total! I always forget when shows are on, but when I do watch I like her.

We were really excited when Hank got signed here with the Colts and there was always talk of Kendra sightings around the city! Hah! She does seem to be one of the few brutally honest reality tv people out there though... I like her a lot better now than when she was on Girls Next Door

  4. I didn't see the show last night but hope to catch it on a reply. I actually do really like her. And there was recently a True Hollywood Story on about her on the E! network and that was really good. Not only do most women have weight issues after having a baby, there's also all the hormone issues and the baby care itself, plus no sleep. I thought my husband would run for the hills because I was a mess. ha! And I think her hubby Hank is sweet. He doesn't seem like the typical pro sports star.

  5. I love Kendra. All new mothers feel that way. They just don't admit it. Hank is a sweetie. He is the best man for her. He's so patient & loving!

  6. Okay this is so deja vu. I was just thinking last night how I never watch this show, but found myself rahter into it, because nothing else was on Sunday night, and like you, I got sucked into it. I think Kendra and Hank's relationship seems so normal, and often people put celebrities on pedestals. I teared up when Hank reinforced how much he loves her. My insecurities have peaks and valleys, it's nice that she has someone so great to point out that her worries are in her head :)i definitely like her more now than on girls next door. And her E! THS was an eye opener.

  7. i completely agree with you ~ i love that show and i have never felt this insecure about myself. it is important to know that you are often your toughest critic. while i do want to feel better about myself and get in a bit better shape, you must realize that you possess many other great qualities! :)

  8. I love Kendra!! She really annoyed me back at the beginning of The Girls Next Door, but now I think she's a great role model because she is so real and honest.

Don't feel bad about sharing your struggles we all have them at some point and its good to get them out so you can face them. You're a gorgeous girl and look great. But getting healthy and feeling good about yourself is always a great goal. Good luck and keep us updated :)

  9. Like you and everyone else has said above, Kendra is so down to earth. She may be a former playboy model, but she seems way more like you and me than most celebs. There really is a lot of trashy, dumb reality TV out there, but Kendra's show is a personal favorite. She tells it like it is!
