  2. There will be times that you take 2 steps forward and then take 5 steps back but just keep trying and you will be fine. I won't lie and say that it will be easy, but if you live within your means you will come out on top in the end. Try going to a credit union and see if you can get a card there.

  20. sounds like a good read. I have a book, can't remember the author, that is called "Goodbye, Jimmy Choo!" about a woman who has to move because of her husbands job away from her lifestyle and NYC. Interesting they have a similar title.

  24. I would love this book, I need the extra help as well! I am also a 20-something try to build credit, and it is not easy. One thing I did was buy a nice piece of furniture and financed it for 6 months, after I paid that off I applied for a low limit store credit card, it's a slow process, but I am taking baby steps. If you get any great advice for this please post!!!

  29. Perhaps you should get a secured credit card. As I understand it, you deposit a certain amount of money into a credit card account, and that is your "credit limit". Basically, it's a glorified debit card, but it's supposed to help you gain credit. I would check out the various fees, etc. to make sure you're not paying a huge amount for the so-called privilege of using such a card, though. I've never had such a card, so I can't direct you to any specific banks/companies, but you can probably Google "secured credit card" and find lots of info. Good luck!

  30. thats something I need to read too!

I know how you feel, I think honestly, most people feel that way. They always say, the more you make, the more you spend.

When I was trying to get credit, I went to Express. They have a student program and will give you a line of credit. It may start at just $100 but as you make payments they will raise it and after you do that a few times, you should be able to get most anything. I only had an Express card and was able to get my car without a co-signer at only 18. I think it takes like 3-6 months for them to report GOOD history to the credit bureau (much shorter time if it's BAD history LoL) so give it some time to report and then you should be able to grow from there. I think Gap has the same program (with Banana Republic and Bath & Body Works)
Macy's is pretty quick to approve too, but they are such a night mare to deal with, I wouldn't suggest that.
ps- I tweeted you about this. But I don't think you follow me - @itsjules

  36. I need this book bad! I had credit cards and overbought and ended up $17000 in debt. I ruined my credit! If you get a card, you need to pay it off each month or it will add up. I managed to pay off all of my debt thanks to 4 jobs and a husband who could manage money.
