So my car is almost kaput.
It broke down last night.
And I am still waiting for a diagnoses from the dreaded dealership.

It has over 100,000 miles, it has been a good car. A great car actually.
But My dad told me he might be trading it soon.

he told me to look and see what I like.
(really this means, he is probably going to choose what he likes, which is fine.)

But still it is fun to have a reason to look.

My dream Car:

the BMW 5 series in white.
I know that to some of you all this is not a dream car. Some would say a dream car is a Bentley or something of the like.
But this is my dream car. I just love it.
I think it is so classic.
And I love BMW. It is what I drive now and I really am convinced they are the best.

But if I cant have my dream car here are some others I kinda dig.

The Honda Accord
Ok
So everyone drives this
And for good reason
It is a great car.
I would drive it.
But I dont love the look of it.
But I guess I could sacrafice looks for a well made car that is cheap to maintain.

The Volvo S40
I LOVE this car.
LOVE the look
LOVE the ride.
the downside, the tiny backseat.
But I LOVE it.

Volvo C30
I think it so cool looking.
And A little roomier than the S40
But that is all I know about it.

Nissan Murano

Again I don't really know anything about this car, I just think it is good looking

Infiniti FX50
LOVE the way it looks.
And the way it drives.

Toyota Prius

Someone told me that this was a 'Yuppie Fad Car'
I don't know what that means.
And I don't care really.
I like the Prius.
A lot.
I think it is cute.
And it has great gas mileage.
Call me a Yuppie.
I do what I feel.

What are your thoughts?
Have any of you had any experiences with any of these cars, good or bad?

Peace,

  4. I would ask your bmw dealership if they are getting an any new diesels they get around 50 mpg which is better than a hybrid.

  5. I have that Volvo and I LOVE it!! I have had it ever since I was 16 and it is still in really good condition. It was even used before me! I am going to get a new car soon too so I really liked this post. Have you looked at the Honda CRV? I like the look of it.

  6. I had a BMW 3 Series for my first car, and I loved it. I've driven a Lexus and now have a Chevrolet tahoe, and the BMW drove the best and never had to be in the shop. I hope to drive my current car for as long as it will last, but after I graduate I will definitely be purchasing another BMW. You're right, they're just classic. :) Good luck with your car, I saw on twitter that it is just the battery - that's great and shouldn't be too big of a deal to fix!

  7. I have a 2003 BMW 325i, I've had it since I turned 16 and I LOVE it!! My parents just got an X5 and I love it too!! BMWs are such good vehicles and drive so well. Good luck with your car! I pray you get your dream car one day :)

  8. The new honda does have a jacked up look but they are such good cars. I drive a Volvo (the SUV) and you cannot beat it for safety but I have had the S40 as a loaner while mine is in service & the backseat is tiny. They have also tried to give me the C30 and I refused b/c it is 2 door & I have kids. 2 doors are a pain if you ever plan on using your backseat & its not a convertible. The Infiniti looks nice but assuming it is pricy. The Nissan is Infiniti's lower priced model (like Toyota is to Lexus & Acura to Honda). I say go with the Nissan if the Consumer Reports are good on it. You won't outgrow even if you get married & have babies within the lifetime of this car!

  9. My parents have the infiniti and LOVE it! They have traded in and out for the infiniti for 7 years now and wouldn't have any other car! I had an accord and LOVED it! It was an older one though-I'm like you-don't really like this look! What about an altima! I love mine! has 138000 miles on it and have NEVER had a problem!

  12. You know what I think :-) But the S40, you're right about the backseat, I was going to say that to you yesterday but considering you're childless (at least for a long while!) the smaller backseat wouldn't be a big deal. But, I guess I was wrong! It is a pretty car, I walked by it in our parking lot, very classy.

And yes, my dad has the prius, has had one since they came out (and had no power anything). I've heard it's a yuppie car, but my dad is far from yuppie!

  13. I love Honda! I have never had a problem with them. I do however also love Volvo's. So they are a tie in my book

  14. I agree, I currently drive a BMW and LOVE IT.

My sister has the Volvo S40 and she likes it a lot. Got a great price on it too. Plus it uses regular gas, which surprised me because usually European cars need premium (one of the things I don't like about driving a BMW).

My sister was debating between the C30 and the S40 and decided on the latter because it was more practical. Also, the C30 (if you get it with turbo) tends to be less fuel efficient.

I like that the new Prius' air conditioning is solar powered - so smart! My friends love their Priuses, but I would wait on getting a Toyota due to all the brake recall issues at the moment.

  15. I have an '09 Honda Civic and I absolutely love it! I know you were looking at an Accord, and while my parents have one that they like, I can't speak to it personally. But, my Civic gets great gas mileage, runs well and is the perfect size; not too large, but still enough leg room. I wish it had a bigger engine because I love racing people, but that's no big deal. lol.
