Long Hair Rants

This is me with Long hair.
With my friend Bethany.

I miss my long hair really badly today.
Long hair is really easy.
And my short hair is not.
I liked my short hair the first time I cut it.
but I just got a cut last week and I'm not digging it.
I'm sure it looks the same to everyone around me.
But to me, it looks strange.

I want to grow my hair out.
But I don't have the best track record with sticking to the growing-out process.
Kinda like how I didn't have the discipline to wake up at 5:30 to go to running group today.
But that is a whole other lack of discipline issue we can talk about later.

But the hair growth issue.
Have any of you ever made it through the short hair growing out time after you first cut off your long locks?

Is it even worth trying to grow it out?
Maybe I have outgrown the long hair stage of life.
Because, I mean, eventually if I do succeed in growing it out, I will just end up cutting it off at some point.

I am starting to ramble.

Maybe I just need a new hair do, not long perhaps, just something new.

Ugh I really hate my hair today.

I'm done rambling.

Peace,

  1. I LOVE short hair, but then I also love long hair too. I had short (read:I would tell my stylist to cut it as short as possible without shaving my neck!) hair all through high school and some of college and my hair is now finally getting long. One trick that helps me is to cut it every other or every two trips to the salon. I have also bribed my stylist to help keep up my strength. In the meantime I just use extensions for that last 4 inches of length. Good luck to you!

  2. I completely understand where you are coming from! My hair used to go about halfway down my back! The growing out process isn't too bad though. I kind of forget about how much I miss my long hair on a day to day basis. Once I see pictures of my long hair though, that is when I really miss it because I can SEE how long it was!

  3. I've grown out my hair a few times, and this sounds lazy, but I usually wear it in messy bun or ponytail, and before I know it, it's grown out alot. I love your long hair!

  4. i cut my hair off - drastically - about three years ago. and i've been trying to grow it out since then.

it's not easy... but, like a previous poster said, get your stylist in on it. every time i go in and ask him to cut it off, he tells me no. and i appreciate it.

or, make a goal. something like, "i'll grow my hair until my birthday." then, if it's driving you nuts, do what you want... but if you can stand it, just keep growing.

  5. I had a SUPER short cut one time. I had always had long hair, but just wanted a change. I actually kept it that way for a year or two, and then...the horror of growing it back out.

It wasn't pretty. It was a little rough going some days. I did a lot of headbands.

I will NEVER cut my hair short again. However, I am contemplating cutting about 6 inches off. Just to the bottom of my shoulders and such. Because that's not really short. Right?

  6. I've decided to grow my hair out for the summer. Though I will probably cut it in the fall. I never stick with long hair either!

  7. You look beautiful! And I will always advocate long hair over short hair, simply because mine refuses to grow so it's always medium and if you can grow it out, DO IT! Also, sorry to hear about your car! =( my dream car is a black Range Rover. My motivation for law school...haha not sure if that's sustainable motivation but, oh well! xoe

  9. I started growing my hair out when I met Todd and knew I wanted to wear my hair down, long, and wavy on my wedding day. It went from right at my neck to just past my shoulders. Now it's way past my bra strap down my back. I owe it to prenatal vitamins and breastfeeding. Try it! i LOVE long hair-- it's so much easier than short hair (to me) and I can do so much more with it. i've been growing it for 5 years now and still say "i'm growing it out" even though it's really long!

  10. I chopped my hair off right after I got married...about 8 inches was cut. I really liked my short hair for about a month- but it was so much work. I decided not to cut it. I just got trims and no matter how strange it looked (especially when it gets to that weird middle length stage) I did not touch it. I was so afraid that I would break my own commitment that I would literally have nightmares about chopping all my hair off! I know you can do it--- just don't let yourself tell the hairdresser to cut it. This is what you should say "I will take a healthy trim please! No more and no less." I hope you can do it!!!!!!!
