Final Post of 2009

Wow, A decade of the 2000's has passed me bye.
Wow.
It has been wild.
In this past decade I have:
Graduated middle school
high school
and College
Fallen in love
Been heart broken
Been deliriously happy
traveled abroad
Met an incredible amount of people who I will carry with me forever
Met an incredible amount of people who I have bid a-do too (good riddance!)
Witnessed the birth of 3 nephews and a niece
I have started my first real job
Moved to a different state than where I grew up
and gotten a dog.
and have grown and been stretched in so many ways!
All in a nutshell.
There is much, much more inbetween all of those things.
But How do you measure a decade of your life?!
Like that song from Rent,
522,600 minutes, how do you measure, measure a year?

Take a litte time tonight to measure your decade and year.

Dont Forget....

To Enter my Calendar Giveaway! It ends tomorrow!

Canvas Style

When it comes to fashion, I tend to gravitate towards a more boho style. I love anything with a hippie feel and an eclectic streak running through it. By this, I don't mean crochet tops and long tide died skirts with unkempt hair (although I think for a time in college I leaned that way, but that his a whole other post in itself) but rather a more sophisticated boho-chic look. Think Sienna Miller and the Olsen Twins,well... sometimes that is... at times they tend to look like they crawled out from under a drain pipe, but you get the picture.

But.
While this eclectic style of mine is fun and keeps my wardrobe interesting. Sometimes having the most random of things can be overwhelming.
I need basics. I lack them, greatly lack them.

Lately I have been craving a mens style oxford shirt.
Just something comfy, low key, but stylish to either wear to work on a casual friday or out and about on errands.

And I think I have found it and much much more.
It is a new line called Canvas by Lands End.
I was struck by the modern style mixed with the classic old Lands End.
And it is quite affordable.

Here are some of my staple picks:

All found here.
(I think their T's also look quite comfy)

My Favorite things of 2009

As I bid-ado to 2009 and ring in 2010. Here is a peek back into a few of my favorite things from this past year.

1. Through Rose Colored Glasses
Seriously. My blog and my time on twitter have opened up some amazing doors for me this year. I realized a passion of mine is blogging and that you can connect with people, truly connect, through this crazy thing we call technology!

2. ATL Mafia
And these friendships are the product of my blogging and twittering. These women really are my favorite things of this year!

3. Potter
Oh, How I love this little white sweetheart! He is so special to me! He makes me giggle and is so sweet. He also is always there when I am having a hard day or a really great day! I love him and am so glad 2009 brought us together!

4. My job
I love my job. I don't think many people can say that. I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that this is where I am supposed to be and what I am to be doing at this time. And on top of the certainty, I actually enjoy going everyday! I am so blessed! (and so Luckie!)

5. Tory Burch Reva's
I was late to the game. I just bought my first pair this past year and I live in them. Go buy a pair, You wont regret it!

6. Leggings.
Enough said. If you haven't caught onto the trend, scurry, scurry to pick up a pair.

7. YSL Singulier Mascara.

Thank you prettyinpinkmeg. It has changed my eyelashes.

8. Latisse
I swear my eyelashes are a foot long!

9. Chicago
I had the best vacation this year in the Windy City. I have always wanted to move there, and maybe I will one day. But my vacation held me over for 2009. I stayed in the most amazing apartment, saw U2 in concert and got to spend some amazing time with my brothers and
sister -in- law. I plan on making Chicago an annual trip until it is one day (cross my fingers) my new home.

10. My new apartment and my dear friends in Birmingham!
I have had a time of it finding a permanent place to live. But I think Donquisha is it for me. I think I will live here as long as I am in Birmingham.
And that is a blessing and relief!

And without my friends here in Birmingham, My life just wouldn't be ok.
SO cheers, KAK, Lizzie, Bethany, Bunny, Laura and Fanch!

(obviously I am not Alicia Silverstone but I didn't know how to mark out her name on picassa, anyone know how?)

Ok so I've decided to do something a little crazy.
I'm going vegetarian.
Or I am at least going to try.
Why, you might be asking?
Well... To cut a long story short, A conversation went down over the break about how awful some of the things that we put in our bodies really are.
And then,
I watched an awful movie, Food Inc., which disgusted me and confirmed the above conversation.
Plus, Those poor animals.

On top of going meat free, I am trying to eat as organic and simple as possible. By simple, I mean, non-processed and the most organic fruit and veggies I can find.

The only thing that I can't justify cutting out is fish, I mean, Jesus was a fisherman, right?

Are any of you meat free?
Any good recipes or tips?

Interested?
check out this
and this
and if your brave watch this.

Holiday Idea

I Love, Love Love this idea.
My Friend Elizabeth told me about it and
I ordered mine last night. (of course in yellow)
Here is Keel's philosophy on the Simple Diary:

Why a Simple Diary?
There are Three reasons why most people, although they have tried, wont keep a diary:
1. Not every day is very eventful
2. It actually takes a lot of discipline to write.
3. In retrospect, Many find what they have written embarassing.

Keels offers a simple structured way to record your day. Making it easy to keep memories.

One of my co-workers ( who is quite stylish and cute) is wearing a pair of these today.
She is rocking them with some leggings, A long cotton sweater, and a scarf.
She couldn't look more put together for a rainy day.

I didn't wear a coat today.
That was stupid.
but it was raining.

I am cold.
And I have to go back out into the rain at lunch.
Really wishing I had one of these.

What If...

I moved to New York
Wore matching pajamas every night and woke up looking like Holly Golightly
Wore red lipstick as a staple for evenings out
Traveled some place other than Florida for a vacation
Had a closet full of the perfect outfits, shoes and accessories for everyday

These are just some of the what-if's that pop into my head sometimes.

Peace,

I promise the vlog is coming...

I am still behind on life at the moment. Just a little disoriented.
and I cant find my camera at the moment so the vlog I so badly want to do is on hold till that little piece of equipment is found.

But today Darling Dexter (which you should definitely ad her to your reader) has posted about her move from Savannah to NYC. And included in her post is this wonderful flicker album documenting her Savannah home.
She has such amazing style. It is inspiration to me and I enjoyed this slide show so much!

Check it out!

Well, I am officially out of the hell hole I once called a home.

that's right I am in my new apartment all by myself... and I love it!

I am still pretty exhausted from the move.

And a bit disoriented.

But I will be back to my normal postings soon. I promise..

I will even have a vlog to share about my new place!

oh and in other more important news...

Did anyone see the finale of Dexter? OMG OMG OMG.

I am still in shock.
I cried.
and I sat stunned on my couch for a good 15 min after the credits rolled.
I cant imagine what is next for Dex.

Thoughts?

If you are into decorating and design, then I am sure you miss Domino. Boy, do I.

They are on their second issue.

And I LOVE.

Especially the table scape on page 32!

Oh and remember my post on wall paper, check out Lonny page 44.

Pg. 88... That pink in the bathroom... the perfect vintage pink color... To Die For!

Ah, Im an addict.
