Happy Monday all! I can honestly say today is a happy Monday for me. Waving farewell to the horrible week that was last week! Good Riddance!
Thursday I went home sick from work at around 4 o'clock with the stomach bug. It was miserable and it knocked me out and so Friday I took off work and rested and recuperated.
Saturday I made my aching body get up and head to Race for the Cure. And I am so glad I did! There is nothing like finishing a race to give you motivation to do another! It was my first race that I have done while training with the 1/2 in mind. I did one 5k in college but that was for a grade and I cant even remember the thrill of running it.
But Saturdays race was so amazing. I ran for my dear friend Minda's sister Janice who was lost to cancer. Janice and Minda are also daughters of the Governors. So it was so cool to see him there at the finish line!
I ran the whole thing! I stopped twice for about 15 sec for two water breaks and then just kept on running! I finished the race in 28:57 minutes! I was so proud of myself. I think the weather was perfect too, not too cold not too hot and it was drizzling which took away from how much I was sweating!
It also was such a motivator! There is nothing like making it to the finish line knowing that you raced your hardest! It also got me pumped to run more races and to keep up my training for the 1/2!
All in all I was honored to be on team Niecey and to have run in her memory and for a cure.
Here are some pictures from the day:

ReplyDeleteI was so happy to see your tweets this weekend and to hear that you'd finished strong! What a wonderful cause and so fun that you had such a large group to complete to event with. Do you think you'll keep running?
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the race! I run the Race for the Cure every year in Seattle, it's such an awesome event. We don't have the pink fountain though, that is very cool.
ReplyDeleteI ran a half marathon in June for the first time. It was really tough but the best feeling of accomplishment. Good luck and let me know if you need any advice!
